1. Jacksonville – Matt Barkley. Realistically, the Blaine Gabbert experience
is not working. He is way to
inconsistent and very injury prone. I
can see the Jags going anywhere with this pick really, the team needs help
everywhere, but if they have the chance at a QB, I think they’ll go with
Barkley. He may not be having the greatest senior campaign but he is a tad more
NFL ready then Geno Smith.
2.
Kansas City – Geno Smith. Well, when Kansas City’s week 8 starter is
Brady Quinn you know there is a problem.
I really enjoy watching Geno Smith play; he has an absolute cannon, has
great pocket presence, and can move.
Even with the Mountaineers struggling Geno still has some absolutely
ridiculous numbers, 2,414 yards, 74.2 completion, and 26 tds against just 2
interceptions.
3.
Cleveland – Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia. Jones is what every head coach dreams about,
a tad undersized but an absolute workhorse.
Jones has the speed of a running back and the stamina of a Olympic sprinter
all in his 6-3 / 235 pound frame. One of the best pass rushers in the draft, wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't end up #1 come draft time.
4.
Tennessee - Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah. He is Humongous and is quick as a 6-4/325
pound DT can be. Tennessee’s current big men are Jurrell Casey and Sen’Derrick
Marks, yuck. Lotulelei is that type of
guy that will make a huge difference up front; his statistics don’t do him
justice, hes a monster.
5.
Oakland - Sam Montgomery, DE/OLB, LSU. 2011 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year
Finalist, 2011 First-Team All-American (FWAA, FoxSportsNext.com), 2011 Second-Team
All-American (SI.com), 2011 Third-Team All-American (AP, Rivals.com), 2011
First-Team All-Southeastern Conference (AP, Coaches), 2010 Freshman All-SEC
(Coaches). What more do you need?
6.
Carolina - Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State.
Wanna hear how bad the panthers d line is? They have 2 former bills, Dwan and
Ray Edwards up the middle. Where ever the panthers draft this year they NEED a to
find a big athletic DT. Hankins is
exactly that, great size and is very quick off the line. He would fit the panther’s defensive scheme
like a glove.
7.
Indianapolis - Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB. Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney are getting
up there in age; imagine having Barkevious Mingo learning under Dwight Freeney
for a couple of years? It will be exactly like Montana and Young all over
again. Where ever Mingo goes he will wreak
havoc on all the teams who let him slide this far.
8.
New York Jets - Barrett Jones, T/G/C, Alabama.
Well I hate the Jets as much as the next guy, but they have a stellar Defense.
So I figured they could go QB but then I looked at their offensive line and
almost puked. Jones is the BEST o-line prospect
in the draft, he has above average size and is great with his hands (I mean
that in strictly football terms). He can
play all 5 line positions and can do them well.
9.
Buffalo - Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame. Here we
go, I know you’re all disappointed no Quaterback. Realistically I don’t see the
Bills drafting a QB that’s not Smith or Barkley in the 1st
round. They believe in Fitz way too
much, it’s disgusting. The bills are
just horrific against the run and that may have something to do with the fact
that we have the WORST LB core in all of the NFL, I mean it, terrible. Te’o is EXACTLY what the bills need, a very
good run stopper who can drop back in coverage if absolutely needed. His hair and tattoos really help out too. I
can see the Bills picking up a QB in the second round, the draft is full of
pretty good Quarterbacks.
10.
Cincinnati – Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon. This man is 6’7/243 pound, that’s one big
dude. Switching from TE to DE must be pretty easy cause he did it with ease. He
was 1st team all PAC 12, recorded 13.0 Tackles for loss, and had 7.5
sacks. What makes these stats so
ridiculous is that it’s in the PAC 12, the fastest, most elusive of all the
college football conferences. No it’s
not the SEC but he has to keep up with an extremely group of guys.
11.
Tampa Bay - DeMarcus Milliner, CB, Alabama. Dee
Milliner he is lightning quick, keeps receivers close and can get to the line
if necessary. Uses his hands well on the line, tough for most dbs in college to
do. I can see him moving up and being a
top 5 pick when it’s all done. The bucs
would love to have a guy like Milliner, especially with Ronde Barber getting up
there in age.
12.
St. Louis - C.J. Mosley*, OLB, Alabama. This may be a little bit of a reach, the rams
are looking like they are slowly progressing.
I can see them grabbing a WR here but the draft is pretty deep with
receivers, OLB is the thinnest position in the draft so I can see a team
reaching on Mosley because he is the second best pure OLB on my draft board,
and the Rams need the help bad.
13.
Arizona - Kawann Short, DT, Purdue. He has good quickness and bursts of speed to
get past guards. O-linemen can’t push
him around due to his bulkiness. He
should fit nicely in the Arizona D that is full of guys that wouldn’t start on
Alabama.
14.
Dallas - Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma. Jefferson
has the ability to play free safety or strong safety, he has great wrap up
ability and isn’t afraid to make the big hit when necessary. The Cowboys do not have a bad secondary, but
adding Jefferson will make it one of the elite.
15.
San Diego - Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State. Quentin Jammer will be a free agent have this
season, the chargers are going to have to find a guy to work across from Antoine
Cason. Rhodes is a big, physical DB who
rarely gives any space for receivers.
Reminds me of Stephon Gilmore, which isn’t that bad of a comparison.
16.
Philadelphia – Tyler Bray, QB, Tennessee. I really do not see the Eagles retaining Mike
Vick in Philly. It’s time for both sides
to move on. Tyler Bray is a big body
with great ability to throw down field. If
he goes into the draft this year I believe he’ll be the third QB chosen after
Smith and Barkley.
17.
Detroit –
Keenan Allen, WR, California. Allen is
slowly moving under the radar of scouts due injuries, and the emergence of guys
like Woods and Austin. He has very good
size 6’2/215 and has a very quick burst.
Detroit needs a guy to lineup away from “Megatron”. Adding another solid receiver would make
Calvin and the Lions offense scary to play against.
18.
Minnesota - John Jenkins, DT, Georgia. Letroy
Guion is next to Kevin Williams up front (puke noise). Imagine if the Vikings put a great pass
rushing DT next to Williams, between Jared Allen and Brian Robison? That may be
the best D-Line in the league.
19.
St. Louis - from Washington – Robert Woods, WR, USC. Another reach for the Rams after drafting Mosley
earlier, but I think in this case they
have to. Woods is a big play wide receiver
who uses his athletic ability to make the tough plays. I think he is the second
best receiver in the draft, some may disagree but his athletic ability is just
unmatched by any other. The Rams passed
on Blackmon last year but I could not see them passing on the big play threat
Woods.
20.
New Orleans – Bjoern Werner, DE, FSU. Will Smith is not playing worth the 10 mil he
is owed next year so he won’t be back, the Saints are going to need a solid
Pass Rusher to take his spot. Werner could go as early as 5 and as late as the
second round, he has to have a great
combine to improve his draft stock much higher than around here.
21.
Miami* – Terrence Williams, WR, Baylor. Williams
is taller than Allen and but less athletic then Woods. He is stuck in the back seat behind those two
studs, but that doesn’t mean Williams can’t make a name for himself, he is a
fantastic route runner and will be a great short yardage receiver in the next
level. The loss of RGIII has really hurt his draft stock, like I said he has to
make a name for himself.
22.
Pittsburgh* – Jonathon Banks, CB, Miss St. Ike Taylor is getting up there in age, and
sooner or later they will have to make a change. If Banks falls this late it Pittsburgh should
celebrate like they just won the super bowl. Banks skill set is slightly less
explosive then Milliner and Rhodes, but that’s not saying much they are all
future 1-2 DB’s.
23.
Seattle* - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M. This draft is not really full of solid
O-linemen, but I think Joekel will emerge as the second best guy after Barrett
Jones. Joeckel is a well-developed tackle who is a very reliable
pass-protector. He is only a junior but
after this year he will have 3 years of starting experience under his
belt. If all goes as planned and he goes
into the Draft he will be a 1st round pick, no doubt.
24.
Chicago* - Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas. The Bears
Defense is just scary, as of now definitely the best D in the league, but when
your starting FS is Chris Conte somethings wrong. The thing I love about Vaccaro is the fact
that he is a ballhawk, he is everywhere the ball is, rarely does he get beat on
one on one tackles and always reads the QB well.
25.
Denver* - Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M. I don’t see Orlando Franklin being the long
term RT for the Broncos, I think they go with Matthews here cause on paper it’s
the only real big need to be filled. Matthews may be the most athletic Linemen in
this draft, he also has very quick feet.
I think he can be a steal at 25 for Denver.
26.
Baltimore* - Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas. Jeffcoat
is very fast and athletic. He has real pass-rushing potential for the NFL.
Jeffcoat has some serious quickness and agility to move around offensive
tackles in order to make plays in the backfield. He also has some physicality
when battling tackles and making tackles.
He is just a little undersized to be a legitimate pass rush DE. I can see him being an OLB in the Ravens 3-4
defense.
27.
San Francisco* - Chance Warmack, G, Alabama. The
49ers aren’t in need of any defensive help.
But they do have a Running back who is slowly decreasing statistically,
I really do not blame it on Frank Gore though, it’s their line. When Alex Boone
is your RG you know there is a problem.
Warmack may be the best pure run blocker in this draft. Ask Eddie Lacy and TJ Yeldon and see what
they say….
28.
Atlanta* - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame. I am sad to say it but Tony Gonzalez is
getting up there in age, his time in Atlanta is going to end either after this
year or the year after. If I was Eifert
I would root for him staying another year.
Learning under Gonzalez for a year would make Eifert a top notch TE stud
for years to come.
29.
New England* – TJ McDonald, S, USC. NFL scouts love the fact that McDonald plays
in a scheme very similar to an NFL’s at USC.
McDonald fits in almost all defensive schemes and will be a solid FS in
the Pats D. He is a hard hitting Safety
with speed to keep up with TE’s and most receivers. McDonald rarely gets beat in coverage. I would love if the Pats didn’t get him because
I LOVE him but he could compliment Pat Chung very well.
30.
Green Bay* – Marcus Lattimore, RB, South
Carolina. Cedric Benson realistically isn’t
the guy for the Packers, and the former UB Bull James Starks is not producing
as they had hoped. The Packers need to
establish a running game alongside the former MVP Aaron Rodgers and the pretty
good defense. Lattimore has the skill set to be a top 10 pick but due to
injuries and some inconsistency problems he’ll fall, but he still is the #1 RB
in a very thin RB draft.
31.
New York Giants* - Jonathan Cooper, OG, North
Carolina. Cooper is a solid zone blocker and would be a big upgrade at RG for
Eli and the Giants. He is very good at
controlling the inside of the line. He
could be a diamond in the rough for Tom Couglin.
32.
Houston* – Tavon Austin, WR, WVU. Imagine having
the speed demon Tavon Austin across from the big man of all men Andre Johnson? It
will make Matt Schaub and Texans fans happy campers.
DUDE! I love this blog great job
ReplyDeletethanks Dan means alot!
DeleteThis is sweet dude! I love a ton of those picks. Sad that we get excited for mock drafts week 8...
ReplyDeleteLove this mock except for the Philly and Arizona picks. Good job little girl!
ReplyDeleteAnd Detroit. Those three teams have much bigger needs elsewhere. Otherwise solid job.
ReplyDeleteLast point: if the bills tank the rest of the season and finish 5-11 or 6-10, I'll give it a 90% chance that Gailey AND Fitz are both gone next year and I wouldn't be surprised to see Nix trade up for a chance at a qb. As bad as this team has been, Nix may need something to eventually save his own job. If the bills finish around 8-8 or 9-7 however, no chance Fitz or Chan are gone next year and the Manti pick seems the most likely possibility.

ReplyDeletewell said, but I believe the Bills will be around number 7 or 8 since tennessee now holds the tie breaker over the Bills. We still do not have a easy schedule and with not firing anybody yet its only going to get worse but I still see Monti Te'o as our pick. Then in round 2 either Tyler Wilson who has dropped a bit in stock but still has a great arm and can read a defense unlike our quarterback now. Or even Tyler Bray who is also impressive
