Ok, So we all know that the bills defense is just putrid there is no getting around that fact. However what really grinds my gears is that we have done nothing to change that. Cool we resigned a washed up linebacker turned to a under sized defensive end, that is the Bills biggest move so far. Yes the players are underachieving, but what have the bills done to change or help out the line? Even the announcer of the game this week came out and said that Wannstedt is not a pressure guy. Wait rewind that "not a pressure guy?" How can you have 100's of millions of dollars invested in your line, a shaky linebacking core (at best), average cornerbacks and a above averege safety core and not send pressure. Thats like batting the pitcher in the American league, just out right stupid. What is worse is the line is not getting any push what so ever leading to the exposure of our cornerbacks and linebacking core. All the best defenses have great coordinators who send creative blitzes throughout the game keeping the opposing offensive line confused and on there heels. But not the Bills, we have become so predictable we may perhaps be the worst defense to ever play in the NFL. But my whole problem with this is that WE ARE NOT CHANGING A THING!!!. One would think that after getting torched as bad as the Bills have gotten a change in gameplan would happen on the defensive side right? That would only make sense. But as usual the Bills have found a way to remain the worst defense and still not send any heat at the quarterback.
Its almost as if the play calling is coming from a high school coach who has been running the same defense for the past 10 years and is allergic to change. A good Coordinator has the ability to adapt at half time let alone from one game to the next. But not Wannstedt, lets just keep running the same defense getting awful results and wonder what the problem is.
Now I am not putting all the blame on Wannstedt, but I am most certainly putting a majority of the blame on him. I am shocked he has not been fired today (monday) and that the Bills office is seriously letting this man keep his job going forward. The least he could do is send more pressure and make a attempt to try new things. But nope if the defense is broke lets not fix it and still get crooked numbers put up against us. The only thing that the bills defense can look forward to is getting a new linebacker next year named Monti Te'o. That is of course if the front office doesnt blow this top 10 pick upcoming once again.
EXACTLY! We may or may not have good blitzing linebackers, but they'd be more effective there than getting picked apart in coverage. The lack of pressure week in and week out is driving me insane.
